Everyone deals with appointments. They fill our
calendars and shape our routines. We set dates, miss a few, shuffle others
around, and sometimes cancel without a second thought. Appointments come and
go, and most of them carry little lasting weight.
But there is one appointment unlike any other, an
appointment that stands above every meeting, deadline, and obligation in this
life. It cannot be cancelled, postponed, ignored, or handed off to someone
else. It is fixed, unavoidable, and deeply personal.
An appointment has already been set for every one of
us, a meeting we did not book.
We may not know the day or the hour, but the time is fixed (Matthew 24:36).
That appointment is popularly known as The Judgement Day. “We all must
appear before Christ in court so that each person can be paid back for the
things that were done while in the body, whether they were good or bad” (2Corinthians
5:10).
Just as ignoring an important appointment brings
consequences, ignoring this carries eternal weight (Hebrews 12:25). Scripture
is clear: judgment is not a suggestion or a metaphor. It is a real courtroom
scene before a holy God (Revelation 20:12).
The question is, how do we prepare for an appointment
we cannot avoid? You need to:
This appointment is certain. It cannot be cancelled or
avoided, and every day brings it closer. One day, every person will stand
before the God who created them, who watched over their life, and who offered
salvation through Christ. On that day, we can get one of two things: justice or
mercy. Those who surrender their lives to Jesus here will get mercy while those
who don’t will get justice.
Will you meet God with your sins unforgiven, or with a
life made new by Jesus?
The
